Booking Questions

Common Questions Before
Booking Kilimanjaro

Tanzania Adventure recommends 3–6 months for standard programmes. July–August peak season: 6+ months due to camp site availability. KINAPA permits can be arranged with shorter lead time but preferred departure windows benefit from advance planning.

KINAPA permits are non-refundable once purchased. Tanzania Adventure follows TATO guidelines for the remaining balance. Travel insurance with altitude sickness cancellation cover is strongly recommended — it is a standard insurable event on most adventure travel policies.

Yes — the Kilimanjaro+Safari combination is Tanzania Adventure's most popular adventure programme. Emmanuel hands to James Kimaro in Arusha on the post-summit day. No gap, no transition friction, one seamless booking.

Not correlated with fitness. Prevention is time at altitude — exactly what the Lemosho Route provides. Emmanuel carries emergency oxygen and is WAFA-certified. He monitors specific symptoms of serious altitude illness throughout. The decision to descend is his professional judgment, made in your best interest.

Who This Is For

the Kilimanjaro Package for
Every Kind of Traveller

Whether you are celebrating a honeymoon, discovering Africa for the first time, or returning for the experience you know only Tanzania delivers.

Summit Goal
Summit Seekers

The Kilimanjaro Package is built around one outcome: getting you to Uhuru Peak at 5,895m. Emmanuel Ngowi's 94% summit rate is the result of 16 years of altitude management discipline.

Lemosho 8-day route: the best acclimatisation profile of any Kilimanjaro programme
Emmanuel's daily altitude protocol — ascent pace, hydration schedule, symptom monitoring
All permits, porter team, camping equipment, and meals included in the package price
Summit Together
Honeymoon Climbers

Summit together and descend to the Indian Ocean. The Kilimanjaro-to-Zanzibar honeymoon programme is Tanzania Adventure's most requested single combination.

Emmanuel coordinates directly with Grace (Zanzibar guide) for the handover
Beach villa arrival arranged — private pool, champagne, the rest that 8 days of climbing earns
The summit photograph is the honeymoon photograph — nothing else from any trip will matter more
Family Climb
Families with Older Children

Kilimanjaro with children from age 10. Emmanuel has guided families to the summit. He knows how to manage the pace, the altitude communication, and the motivation at 4am.

Emmanuel adjusts pace specifically for family groups — slower, more rest, more encouragement
Tanzania Adventure pre-climb fitness brief for family members — what to expect at each camp altitude
Family summit photograph at Uhuru Peak is one of the most lasting family achievements available
Summit + Safari
Wildlife + Summit Seekers

The summit-to-migration sequence. Kilimanjaro with Emmanuel, then the Serengeti with James. Arctic conditions to wildebest herds in 24 hours.

15-day standard: 8-day Lemosho climb + 7-day northern circuit safari
Emmanuel briefs James on the client's physical state and interests at the handover
Tanzania Adventure's most requested programme by returning clients who have done the circuit alone
Solo Summit
Solo Climbers

One climber. One guide. Emmanuel's full attention from the gate to the summit and back. The solo Kilimanjaro is the most intensely personal achievement in Tanzania's outdoor programme.

Private guide assignment — Emmanuel manages the solo client's ascent without group dynamic interference
Tanzania Adventure solo pricing available — no group minimum required for the Kilimanjaro package
The post-summit debrief dinner with Emmanuel: the conversation that makes sense of what you just did
Summit Photography
Photography Travellers

The Furtwängler Glacier at first light. The cloud sea below at 5,000m. Five climate zones producing completely different landscape photography each day.

Emmanuel briefs on camera cold-weather management and battery conservation at altitude
Sunrise timing at the summit crater rim — the moment the cloud layer lights up pink and orange
Tanzania Adventure provides a post-climb species and landscape log for photography reference
Why Tanzania Adventure

The Kilimanjaro
Standard That Matters

The 94% Summit Rate

Tanzania Adventure’s 94% Lemosho summit rate is explained by one factor: acclimatisation schedule. The 8-day Lemosho provides more nights above 3,500 metres before the summit push than any shorter route. The industry average for comparable routes is approximately 65%. The extra two nights on the mountain above altitude represent the physiological difference between 94% and 65%.

Emmanuel Ngowi’s 16 years and 280+ summits add a second factor: pace management. Emmanuel starts clients at a pace that feels too slow and maintains it precisely throughout. "Pole pole" — slowly, slowly — is not just Swahili encouragement. It is the operating principle that determines who reaches Uhuru Peak.

Porter Welfare

Tanzania Adventure pays porters 40% above KINAPA minimum wage, provides all equipment, and enforces the 20kg carry limit without exception. Our porter retention rate of 85%+ annually produces an experienced, motivated team rather than a rotating pool of low-cost labour. The people who carry your gear to the summit deserve to be treated as the professionals they are. Our prices reflect this. Competitors who pay less also, correspondingly, pay their porters less.

Tanzania Adventure is transparent about this trade-off. If budget is the primary constraint, we can recommend the programme tier that fits. But we will not reduce porter welfare to match a competitor’s price.
