We’ve guided over 4,000 families through the Tanzanian bush. Here’s what we’ve learned — honest, no marketing gloss.

The Right Age

We recommend age 6+. Children under 6 can do it, but they tire quickly on long game drives. The sweet spot is 8-14 — old enough to absorb, young enough to be awestruck.

What Works

Short game drives (3-4 hours max). Lodges with pools. Scavenger hunts with the guide. Junior ranger programs. Night drives — kids love spotlights. And Zanzibar at the end — beach time is essential decompression.

What Doesn’t

Back-to-back 10-hour game drives. Formal dining lodges. Camps without electricity (for charging devices). Anything that feels like school.

The Moment

Every parent describes the same moment. It’s not the lions or the elephants — it’s the first morning their child wakes before dawn, runs to the window, and whispers: “Dad, there’s a giraffe.” That’s the moment. That’s the one you remember forever.
